On Wednesday, September 20th, grades 3 and 7 served as student leaders for our "We Are Called" monthly prayer service. This month's theme focused on the Dignity of Workers as one of our Catholic teachings on social justice And as a direct connection to honoring those workers whose vocation is to protect the residents of our community, at this memorable prayer service, we offered a special blessing and handmade cards of gratitude for the first responders who so courageously serve the Catonsville area. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to members of our local police and fire departments. Thank you all!
Lord of Mercy, Prince of Peace, This date, 9-11, carries a heavy burden of memory. This day does not pass in the calendar without our remembering. We remember images of death and destruction. Images that human eyes were never meant to see. We remember words our ears were never meant to hear, the tender last words of husbands and wives who would never embrace again. We imagine the feeling of emptiness in the arms of children who at the end of the day could not find mom or dad for their welcome home hug. We remember our own feelings of emptiness as our sense of security, as our own confidence in the predictable order of life and work was radically shaken. This date, 9-11, carries a heavy burd
Today a group of students began a monthly partnership with the ministries that are provided by "My Brother's Keeper" meals program in Catonsville. Our 8th grade team of Bears served with a smile and labored with love as they brought joy and provided a hot lunch to the needy of our local community. Service is truly at the HEART of a St. Agnes education.
Today St. Agnes School welcomed home returning students and welcomed the newest members of the BEAR DEN to our charming little schoolhouse. This morning each new student was showered with a cascade of bubbles that were shared from our 7th and 8th grade classes. The "Young Cubs" were then greeted with a high-five from Mr. Costante and received a special certificate commemorating this blessed day. Anyone who might have passed by our campus on this day would have clearly heard amid the festive music and school-wide cheers that WE ARE....ST. AGNES! What a great day to be St. Agnes BEAR!!
