Today the entire school system for the Archdiocese of Baltimore gathered together at the Cathedral of Mary our Queen. As over 1000 educators gathered to celebrate liturgy, we rejoiced in prayer, song and celebration in thanksgiving for the unique vocation we hold as teachers, administrators and staff members. And as Archbishop Lori reminded us, the calling we have responded to as Catholic school teachers is one that challenges us to "bring extraordinary love to the ordinary events of each day." What a blessed gift it is to serve the students and families of the St. Agnes community!
Today over 100 members of ST. AGNES NATION took part in the end of summer "Bears on Wheels" roller skating event. Our students and their families can't seem to wait to skate into the 2017-2018 school year! What a great day to be part of the St. Agnes BEAR Den!!
Today as we honor the feast day for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we are reminded of the special love that the Immaculate Mother provided to the Son of God. On this joyous day, we are called to give thanks for the beautiful gift of love that is shared by all of the wonderful mothers who model that same type of love to each of us. And so today and every day we are invited to give praise and offer thanksgiving to all of our mothers who provide unconditional love, care and support to each of us. Thank you Mary for being our earthly Queen!
On August 12, our faith community celebrates the feast day for St. Jane Frances de Chantal. As a disciple of her friend and mentor St. Francis de Sales, her practical wisdom can be seen through the profound simplicity of her writing style. St. Jane invited us to meet God with an open heart and a generous ear through the gift of prayerful silence. "Prayer, more is accomplished by listening than by talking." As followers of Christ, may we welcome the Lord our Savior with attentiveness to the movements of the Holy Spirit. Happy feast day St. Jane Frances de Chantal!!
